What Your Mission and Vision Statements Can Reveal About Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in accountability, Alaska, business, Coaching, entrepreneur, focus, foundation, goals, growth, Mission Statement, Social Media, vision, Vision Board | No Comments

When I first thought of creating a business in 1999, I hired a business advisor to help me get the business off the ground. The first steps seemed so painful at the time. I had never owned a business and had many fears. The business advisor’s job was to see to it that I was serious about the business – that I was ‘willing to go to any length’ to make the business work, run, grow and succeed. Success was defined by paying my bills, growing a savings account, and enjoying what I was doing, both personally and business-wise. The first and most important task was the business plan. Today, in coaching sessions with my clients, I recommend that they create a Vision Board. The reason is that Vision Boards are creative and visual, and, essentially, your business plan laid out.  I use colors, i.e. markers, colored stickies, stickers, anything to create fun and flowing visions. My Vision Board for 2016 hangs on my office wall for me to see …

2017 Mantra

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, goals, growth, Inspiration, Love | No Comments

Secret Agent of God For many years past, I used one word as a mantra for the upcoming year.  The word gets written on my vision board, on my whiteboard, in my planner, anywhere that helps me to visualize the word throughout the year. This year, four words have chosen me!  They came to me over coffee with friends in Maui.  Someone tossed out the words “Agent of God”… I tossed in “Secret Agent of God”.  It stuck and has stayed with me since returning home in Anchorage. What these words mean to me: to practice random acts of GIVING without sharing with the world the good deed.  Setting an intention to practice daily acts of kindness with no one knowing. When getting annoyed by the behavior of someone over the last few weeks, a little voice in my head said, “what would a Secret Agent of God do in …

The Ripple Effect

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Inspiration, life, Love | No Comments

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” –Ghandi As I was getting twisted up about the state of the nation and watching all the mean, angry, fear-driven posts on social media from friends and colleagues, I had an epiphany: I can choose to be the change. So last week, I practiced coming from a place of love… creating the Ripple Effect. Even when I felt angry and scared, I practiced love. Granted, I am no saint and this task was not easy. I practiced. It all started with dropping my SUV off at the Ford dealer in town.  I have had the worst experience there the last two times, so I went into the customer service center with a big ol’ chip on my shoulder. But from somewhere deep within my soul, I remembered I was going to practice love.  Oh, how I wanted to go the …

Are You Leaving Them Clueless?

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Anchorage, business, Facebook, growth, Social Community, Social Media, Success | No Comments

When I get hired to coach or consult a person or a business, the first thing I do is go to any place where they could give me information about what they do.  Any place that they can promote the business or company, ie; Twitter, LinkedIn, blog/website… any and ALL Social Media profiles. The goal is for someone to be able to quickly identify what you do, what products you sell, and how they may get a hold of you if they need your product or your service.  Quick is KEY. We live in a very LOUD digital world where things move at lightening speed. People don’t like to have to search for something.  You can be intriguing, just don’t be secretive and leave people questioning what you do or who you are. So….don’t lead them on a rabbit trail.  If you do, they may not go down that trail, but …

Combating Head Chatter

Working alone as an entrepreneur or business owner can be challenging.  Often times it’s the ‘head chatter’ that makes for the challenge. How do you combat your ‘head chatter’? Here are several tools that have worked and continue to work for me: 1: Take a Personality Test.  Doing this can give you some insight into how to best complement your personality type so that you can keep your ‘head’ in check. Introverts and Extroverts need different activities to get inspired or motivated and knowing which type of personality you are is a fantastic place to start!  I spent years doing things that didn’t suit my personality type and was often exhausted and had body ailments that could have been avoided. 2. Meditation.  Meditation is all about quieting the mind – not stopping the mind, but slowing it down. Learning to slow down and listen to what our bodies and our hearts are telling us will allow us to give ourselves …

Facebook Advertising: What It Means For You And Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in Advertising, business, Facebook | No Comments

Happy March!! How is your business growing today? Have you tried carousel, video or Instagram ads on Facebook? Each month, we use Facebook and Twitter ads to help clients build their businesses. My team has a client that offers their customers a monthly promotion. In January, an Alaska Tracy team member suggested trying carousel and Instagram ads Results: The company’s overall ad campaign ‘reach’ increased by 37% from the previous month! With only an additional $100 spent on ads, their promotion generated 25% more in sales for January!!! This is very exciting! The beautiful thing about Facebook (and Twitter) is the ad campaign analytics they provide. As always, numbers tell the true story. Power Editor, Facebook’s third party app, tends to be more strategic in selecting what audience an ad will be targeted to and in tweaking it to get the most ‘reach’ for the least dollar amount per click.  Here’s an example of numbers telling the story: just last night I was able to look at …

Asking!!!! Yes, It Works!

Posted on by Tracy in business, Uncategorized | No Comments

Are you that person that automatically adds people to your email list, or groups you think a person might be interested in without asking their permission first? I get it. You want to build your email list, grow your following …ultimately grow your business and your pocket book. Want to know a secret?  Taking the time to ask permission first is a fantastic way to create relationships!!!  Granted, this way takes more time, as it actually involves reaching out to that person(s), one person at a time. But, I promise, it is SO worth it! Here is how it works.  Facebook and LinkedIn have groups that you can be a part of.  You can also be the facilitator (leader) of that group.  So, here is an example:  I send you a friend request (or a connection request) because I see that you are in a business that I market to.  Let’s say …

The Impact of Business Cards

Posted on by Tracy in business, growth | No Comments

Do you have a habit of collecting business cards? Do they sit in a pile on your desk until eventually you get tired of looking at them and toss them? You know you really should do something with them ……but what? Here is a simple plan for you that will actually grow your database and your business.  Schedule thirty minutes, 3 times a week, to pick up the phone and contact these wonderful people that gave you their cards.  Scared? Not sure what to say?  I am going to give you the script.  The most important thing to remember is to keep the call simple and quick. Script:  Alaska Tracy (AK T): Hi Mary, this is Alaska Tracy, Tracy Williams, is this a good time?   Mary: Hi, Tracy! Yes, I have 2 minutes!  AK T: Great! 2 minutes is perfect!  I got your business card a while back at …

Success via Twitter

Posted on by Tracy in socialmedia | No Comments

One of the benefits of Twitter in my biz (and life) is this amazing connection to people all over the globe! When I speak about humanizing businesses via Social Media / Marketing, people ask me all the time- “but really, how has Twitter put money in your pocket”? I LOVE that question! One example; I had a potential new client seek out our services, this client was rather large involving 5 businesses. I was ‘stuck’ and a bit fearful on my proposal and moving forward. One of my Twitter connections is a biz consultant on the East Coast. Because of Twitter we have built a relationship. I was able to reach out to him via the old PHONE and discuss ways to prepare the proposal. His help was invaluable, as is his continued support on Twitter that is helping to grow me my business. Twitter has increased my data base, income, …

Don’t Forget to Ask

Posted on by Tracy in socialmedia | No Comments

Oh, the mystery of Social Media! How does one use social media to attract clients, customers, and buyers as a means to sustaining one’s livelihood? I was on a coaching call with an entrepreneur yesterday. As I was reviewing her Facebook business page, I noticed that she was attracting thousands of followers and generating hundreds of comments, likes and shares on each of her posts!   I usually don’t see this kind of action on a business page and was thrilled for her! I then asked the question: “How are your sales via Facebook?”  Dead silence followed. She said that she had sold only two products via Facebook in over a year. I asked her if she wanted to know the secret to getting more sales via social media and, of course, she said “Yes!” I told her that she must begin to ASK people to buy her product! If she asked and also provided her customers with directions to her product’s landing page, I knew she would see …

One Simple Way to Build Community

Posted on by Tracy in Social Media Tribe, Uncategorized | No Comments

The theme I am noticing from clients and from within my own life this week seems to be the question: “How do I grow my community?”  Oh, the answers that I have for friends and clients alike are quite simple, yet often not so easy to do and do consistently. In my experience and according to countless others who have gone before me, this one strategy works in growing a happy, joyous and prosperous lifestyle 100% of the time. Ready? Here it is…….be a GIVER, not a taker.  How will you know when it is working? Your focus will shift and others will start to enter your mind more and more.  You will eventually attract the exact community that you are wishing for. When we remove the focus from “what can I get out of this,” to “how can we give back to businesses, people, and the communities we live in,” we are able to attract others into our own worlds.  We are able …

How To Jump Start Your Mind

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized, Verizon | 4 Comments

I was given this complimentary UP by Jawbone two months ago.  I wear it daily/nightly on my wrist.  It fits comfortably and is attractive with my clothing. The results are thrilling and inspiring!  As you can see, I have accomplished 500,000 steps averaging 7,477 steps per day. With all this movement, my eating habits changed.  I have cut out sugar, breads and a few other goodies that gave me a nice little roll around my tummy.  I had been squeezing into my size 6’s and rolling my eyes at my size 4’s hanging in my closet.  I have lost 8lbs. and am feeling comfy in my clothes and more importantly in my skin. I have had an addiction to food, exercise, and body image for decades (since I was 13 years old).  I am a recovering bulimic.  I had used exercise and starvation as a way to cope with the …
