Mental Toughness Biz Vizion with Alaska Tracy Podcast Episode #9 Mental Toughness or an easier softer way is this week’s topic. Life is funny. I can be moving along on life’s balance beam and BAM! My head starts chattering! I would love to tell you it always happens after a major life event, but that is not the case. Remember to read to the end and download your free offering for the week! This last time was right after a Spiritual Retreat! You would think that one’s head would be rested, relaxed, rejuvenated or something to that effect… I had the opposite! My head was riddled with fear, thoughts of what the heck I am doing and the list went on! What does one do when feelings seep into our minds wanting to take over our bodies and keep us stuck in a state paralysis? I remember hearing for the first time, “feelings are not facts” …

Secrets Revealed By Land’s End Resort

Start Play I had the privilege of interviewing Land’s End Resort Sales and Marketing Director Mike Dye on Biz Vision with Alaska Tracy Podcast. Remember to download Alaska Tracy’s Free Gift at the end of these show notes! To be perfectly honest, I was a little nervous about this interview as Land’s End is well known to Alaskans as being the go-to place when staying in Homer. Alaskans provide 50% of their business! Land’s End location is perfectly situated at the end of the Homer Spit. The views of the ocean and mountains are priceless. I was fortunate enough to capture this moonrise from our bedroom (photo above)! What a pleasant surprise it was when I met with Mike. I had asked him if he would talk about Land’s End Mission and Vision statements and share three to five secrets to Land’s End success. When I sat down to talk …

Finding Your Purpose

Where do you begin? So, you have a fantastic idea for a business.  You are over the moon about it and start telling everyone about it, announcing it on Social Media, reserving the URL, creating a Facebook Page…the whole works.  Then a week later, you have a different idea, a different direction you want to go.  So… you start chasing that dream. Maybe this happens a few times. Guess what?  You are not alone.  Many people do this over and over until they find their true purpose… what actually will excite them for the long haul. Throughout the years, I have asked people if they know their life mission.  I have received an array of answers.  When I ask specifically if they are fulfilling their mission by doing what they love career-wise, I get one of two answers:  “yes” or “no”. The “no” people tell me they work so they …

Why Aren’t You Asking Permission?

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Anchorage, business, Coaching, communicate, Facebook, Grow, Social Community, Social Media, Success | No Comments

So… I guess you now know one of my pet peeves?  Yup, getting automatically added to a Facebook Group. I think that people don’t realize all of the amazing business growth opportunities that come with asking people to join a Group first.  Are you in this category?  Well, good news! I am going to share some benefits of asking permission before assuming everyone wants to be in your Facebook Group! Why create a Facebook Group when you already have a Facebook Business Page?   A private group can add value to a program or special product you have. It offers exclusivity to your potential customers or clients that could become buyers of whatever offering you have.  Maybe you create a Group for a certain event and do a Facebook Live from the actual event. No matter what your Group is for, you can set it to be private or public. …

Are You Leaving Them Clueless?

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Anchorage, business, Facebook, growth, Social Community, Social Media, Success | No Comments

When I get hired to coach or consult a person or a business, the first thing I do is go to any place where they could give me information about what they do.  Any place that they can promote the business or company, ie; Twitter, LinkedIn, blog/website… any and ALL Social Media profiles. The goal is for someone to be able to quickly identify what you do, what products you sell, and how they may get a hold of you if they need your product or your service.  Quick is KEY. We live in a very LOUD digital world where things move at lightening speed. People don’t like to have to search for something.  You can be intriguing, just don’t be secretive and leave people questioning what you do or who you are. So….don’t lead them on a rabbit trail.  If you do, they may not go down that trail, but …

Stop Ignoring Them?

Social Media can be tricky, however once you get the basics rules down growth is endless! Over and over and over I see this mistake being made on Social Media.  The mistake that could grow a companies following and their life. I share this from personal experience, watching and working with countless businesses.  It is usually the very first mistake I discuss when coaching and consulting.   When people start taking these simple actions, they are often blown away with the power they provide. Curious? Let me explain with an example.  You enter an elevator and someone says hello, and asks you how you are.  You ignore that person.  You then go to the grocery store, and the cashier asks you a question, again, you ignore that person. Hmmmm…..how do you think the person feels?  How would or could a person function in life doing this?  They probably would not …

Vision Board Creation ~ Simplified

Posted on by Tracy in business, entrepreneur, goals, Grow, growth, struggle, Success, vision | No Comments

How many times have you heard the word Vision Board and thought,  that is so ‘woo-woo‘? From time to time I run into small business owners that have felt ‘stuck’ in their business and I have shared the Vision Board process.  Often times they tune me out before I fully explain how it works. I have even had people say that vision boards go against their beliefs in life. I get the impression people think that Vision Boards are cutting up pretty pictures of big fancy homes and cars and pasting them on a board.   After that, you sit back and bingo!!! The magic happens!!  All the visions become reality!  So, that would be like saying, ‘hello Universe let me tell you ALL my WANTS and NEEDS so you can give them to me’. This has NOT been my experience.  Quite the opposite actually.  It is usually a painful, fearful experience at first. …

Combating Head Chatter

Working alone as an entrepreneur or business owner can be challenging.  Often times it’s the ‘head chatter’ that makes for the challenge. How do you combat your ‘head chatter’? Here are several tools that have worked and continue to work for me: 1: Take a Personality Test.  Doing this can give you some insight into how to best complement your personality type so that you can keep your ‘head’ in check. Introverts and Extroverts need different activities to get inspired or motivated and knowing which type of personality you are is a fantastic place to start!  I spent years doing things that didn’t suit my personality type and was often exhausted and had body ailments that could have been avoided. 2. Meditation.  Meditation is all about quieting the mind – not stopping the mind, but slowing it down. Learning to slow down and listen to what our bodies and our hearts are telling us will allow us to give ourselves …

It really can be overwhelming and exhausting!   There are three essentials you must remember to do once you have your business license in hand and all the legal documents completed.  These essentials are the brick and mortar of your business and can be done right away, but can also be added on to later down the road. Facebook Advertising: What It Means For You And Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in Advertising, business, Facebook | No Comments

Happy March!! How is your business growing today? Have you tried carousel, video or Instagram ads on Facebook? Each month, we use Facebook and Twitter ads to help clients build their businesses. My team has a client that offers their customers a monthly promotion. In January, an Alaska Tracy team member suggested trying carousel and Instagram ads Results: The company’s overall ad campaign ‘reach’ increased by 37% from the previous month! With only an additional $100 spent on ads, their promotion generated 25% more in sales for January!!! This is very exciting! The beautiful thing about Facebook (and Twitter) is the ad campaign analytics they provide. As always, numbers tell the true story. Power Editor, Facebook’s third party app, tends to be more strategic in selecting what audience an ad will be targeted to and in tweaking it to get the most ‘reach’ for the least dollar amount per click.  Here’s an example of numbers telling the story: just last night I was able to look at …

How I Became Successful

Posted on by Tracy in business, entrepreneur, Facebook, focus, goals, linkedin, Social Community, spiritual experience, Twitter, Uncategorized | No Comments

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” –Albert Einstein What does success mean to you?  To me success is following my heart.  In doing so, I have been able to create a heart centered business.  When I follow my heart, I am able to be useful to others.  When I am of use to others all sorts of opportunities become available (including money).  If I continually think about what is in it for me and how can I get MORE, business and life become a struggle. About eight years ago, I sold a mobile dog grooming business that I had started in Anchorage, AK. My husband and I had hit a little bump in the road of life and I got busy looking for a new career. My background was marketing and sales. My heart and soul fought what I was doing entering a real estate career… and yet… …

Asking!!!! Yes, It Works!

Posted on by Tracy in business, Uncategorized | No Comments

Are you that person that automatically adds people to your email list, or groups you think a person might be interested in without asking their permission first? I get it. You want to build your email list, grow your following …ultimately grow your business and your pocket book. Want to know a secret?  Taking the time to ask permission first is a fantastic way to create relationships!!!  Granted, this way takes more time, as it actually involves reaching out to that person(s), one person at a time. But, I promise, it is SO worth it! Here is how it works.  Facebook and LinkedIn have groups that you can be a part of.  You can also be the facilitator (leader) of that group.  So, here is an example:  I send you a friend request (or a connection request) because I see that you are in a business that I market to.  Let’s say …

The Impact of Business Cards

You know you really should do something with them ……but what? Here is a simple plan for you that will actually grow your database and your business.  Schedule thirty minutes, 3 times a week, to pick up the phone and contact these wonderful people that gave you their cards.  Scared? Not sure what to say?  I am going to give you the script.  The most important thing to remember is to keep the call simple and quick. Humanizing Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in business, communicate, entrepreneur | No Comments

What comes to mind when you hear the word Humanize? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary definition, it means “to make (someone or something) seem gentler, kinder, or more appealing to people.”   For years, businesses and organizations have been trying to brand and sell themselves or their products via print, radio, TV, websites, and digital marketing (social media), etc. These are all effective platforms for creating consumer awareness and ultimately growing a business.  But…   …what if you heard that your business could multiply simply by being gentler, kinder and more appealing to people? Being married to a ‘numbers’ guy, I would probably get, “What does that MEAN” and, “What are the numbers to support that statement?”     I have grown multiple businesses, my own included, by simply teaching people how to share their stories, lift others up (or promote others), engage in conversations, and then ask for their support. I have the numbers in …

Success via Twitter

Posted on by Tracy in socialmedia | No Comments

One of the benefits of Twitter in my biz (and life) is this amazing connection to people all over the globe! When I speak about humanizing businesses via Social Media / Marketing, people ask me all the time- “but really, how has Twitter put money in your pocket”? I LOVE that question! One example; I had a potential new client seek out our services, this client was rather large involving 5 businesses. I was ‘stuck’ and a bit fearful on my proposal and moving forward. One of my Twitter connections is a biz consultant on the East Coast. Because of Twitter we have built a relationship. I was able to reach out to him via the old PHONE and discuss ways to prepare the proposal. His help was invaluable, as is his continued support on Twitter that is helping to grow me my business. Twitter has increased my data base, income, …

5 Key Steps to Social Media Success

Posted on by Tracy in business | No Comments

After an hour consultation with a business owner yesterday, I am again reminded that many businesses do not have a clue about the benefits of Social Media and the impact it can have on their overall growth. Here are 5 key steps that you can do today to start growing a social media ‘tribe’ that can grow your business. 1.  Pick one social media platform ie; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and spend 15 minutes five days a week learning how to use it. Do this for 3 weeks. 2.  Follow, like, connect with the gurus using that platform in your industry. Watch  what they are doing and do what they are doing (without copying).  Ask them questions with an open mind that you will learn from them.  Many times people feel too competitive to do this.  Realize there is enough business to go around…if you can’t do this look …

One Simple Way to Build Community

Posted on by Tracy in Social Media Tribe, Uncategorized | No Comments

The theme I am noticing from clients and from within my own life this week seems to be the question: “How do I grow my community?”  Oh, the answers that I have for friends and clients alike are quite simple, yet often not so easy to do and do consistently. In my experience and according to countless others who have gone before me, this one strategy works in growing a happy, joyous and prosperous lifestyle 100% of the time. Ready? Here it is…….be a GIVER, not a taker.  How will you know when it is working? Your focus will shift and others will start to enter your mind more and more.  You will eventually attract the exact community that you are wishing for. When we remove the focus from “what can I get out of this,” to “how can we give back to businesses, people, and the communities we live in,” we are able to attract others into our own worlds.  We are able …

3 Hot Tips To Grow Your Database

Posted on by Tracy in business, Uncategorized | No Comments

A company’s Database is still the ‘king’ for getting leads and leads that become sales.  A database is a fantastic way to build relationships. Here are 3 hot tips to grow your database today! I.  Create a strategic database campaign that will ‘feed’ your database throughout the year.  You can use Constant Contact  or Mail Chimp to create simple, classy newsletters.  Keep them short and give your readers something that they can use.  Remember less is best! Try not over ‘feeding’…ie;  you may annoy and get ‘unsubscribed’ if you send too many newsletters, emails, etc.  Think of how many emails per day you receive, and how many you actually read!  When I was practicing real estate, I sent a monthly newsletter, new listings, and new sales I had all via an email post card.  It was short and sweet.  I got good comments from my database telling me they loved my emails …

Brilliant Out of the Box Marketing

Posted on by Tracy in business | No Comments

3 Simple Effective Ways to Grow your Biz! Several months ago, a company approached me (Alaska Tracy) via Twitter. They emailed me asking me to be a brand ambassador for one of their clients.  It really was a simple program, but would still learn a lot, and get very cool techy gadgets. I did not believe there was no catch to this. After all, I have had decades of experience in the sales industry, and know all the sales lines in the book. After two months of “courting” me, I agreed to talk to them — them being  Online Mom Media.  Their branding policy is BRILLIANT, simple, effective and out of the box! I was asked to attend the Verizon Influencer’s Summit in San Francisco and was able to meet others in the Ambassador program, learn a ton about the Verizon company, and get cool gadgets. After this experience, I wondered why more …

The Illusional Truth of Entrepreneurship

There is so much that goes into starting and running a successful business.  I get emails all the time from folks asking for advice on how to start their own biz. I believe anyone can be a biz owner; however, one must realize ALL that is involved. I recently heard from someone who said she wanted to do what I do and take a step back, allowing her to put in less work hours per day. I reread the email to my husband and he said, “You must be making it look too easy.” See, the reality is hours and hours and then more hours go into the life of a biz owner. (One that is enriched and paying their bills, that is.) I love to hike, so, some days, I try to arrange my schedule and work in the evenings. Because my evenings are not filled with any hobbies …

What’s a true joy in my life? I get to help others that are looking to start a business. In the past month, I have been approached by folks right out of college with no clue how to go about creating a successful business. For a second, it confused me. I have a two-year degree, and I suppose I just assumed a four-year degree would provide insight on how to create and run a business. So, why not spread my knowledge, you wonder? Well, it has sparked my interest to pursue teaching at universities. Teaching the “how-to’s” and the “ins-and-outs” of being an entrepreneur. These people have reminded me of what I knew back when I started my first business in 2001. I have been reminded of the challenges, heart aches and all the successes. This will be the first entrepreneurial blog in a series, and now it’s time for me to ask you some questions. Below are four questions you must …

Are You Living Your Purpose?

By Jenna Gessay Yes, you have a reason for being, and believe it or not, you already ARE it. You may have not yet chosen, however, to express it in a way that truly supports your highest good. That’s okay. That’s what human life just may be about – finding that alignment, and dancing in harmony with it. I am a person who believes we are all connected and one with the divine, and that there is a special imprint, as unique as a fingerprint, woven through our being. That blueprint on our souls, the divinely inspired “why” we are here, can be called our purpose. In my opinion, our purpose isn’t to “do” anything specific. Our purpose is literally to BE THE LIGHT THAT WE ARE. Our mission is to embody our divine light, and to bring it to the world through our own expression and unique offering. Often this …

Lost in the Woods & Not Alone

Recently I was in the woods with my two fur pals Eddie and Zena. It was exceptionally green as we had had several days of rain. I had been on this trail hundreds of times, but somehow, this time, I got disoriented. I started cutting through smaller trails that sprouted off the larger, better groomed trail. Suddenly I had no clue where I was, and darn it… I heard a branch snap
