What Your Mission and Vision Statements Can Reveal About Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in accountability, Alaska, business, Coaching, entrepreneur, focus, foundation, goals, growth, Mission Statement, Social Media, vision, Vision Board | No Comments

When I first thought of creating a business in 1999, I hired a business advisor to help me get the business off the ground. The first steps seemed so painful at the time. I had never owned a business and had many fears. The business advisor’s job was to see to it that I was serious about the business – that I was ‘willing to go to any length’ to make the business work, run, grow and succeed. Success was defined by paying my bills, growing a savings account, and enjoying what I was doing, both personally and business-wise. The first and most important task was the business plan. Today, in coaching sessions with my clients, I recommend that they create a Vision Board. The reason is that Vision Boards are creative and visual, and, essentially, your business plan laid out.  I use colors, i.e. markers, colored stickies, stickers, anything to create fun and flowing visions. My Vision Board for 2016 hangs on my office wall for me to see …

Mental Toughness Biz Vizion with Alaska Tracy Podcast Episode #9 Mental Toughness or an easier softer way is this week’s topic. Life is funny. I can be moving along on life’s balance beam and BAM! My head starts chattering! I would love to tell you it always happens after a major life event, but that is not the case. Remember to read to the end and download your free offering for the week! This last time was right after a Spiritual Retreat! You would think that one’s head would be rested, relaxed, rejuvenated or something to that effect… I had the opposite! My head was riddled with fear, thoughts of what the heck I am doing and the list went on! What does one do when feelings seep into our minds wanting to take over our bodies and keep us stuck in a state paralysis? I remember hearing for the first time, “feelings are not facts” …

Secrets Revealed By Land’s End Resort

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, business, entrepreneur, focus, foundation, goals, interview, Mission Statement, Success, Vision Board | No Comments

Start Play I had the privilege of interviewing Land’s End Resort Sales and Marketing Director Mike Dye on Biz Vision with Alaska Tracy Podcast. Remember to download Alaska Tracy’s Free Gift at the end of these show notes! To be perfectly honest, I was a little nervous about this interview as Land’s End is well known to Alaskans as being the go-to place when staying in Homer. Alaskans provide 50% of their business! Land’s End location is perfectly situated at the end of the Homer Spit. The views of the ocean and mountains are priceless. I was fortunate enough to capture this moonrise from our bedroom (photo above)! What a pleasant surprise it was when I met with Mike. I had asked him if he would talk about Land’s End Mission and Vision statements and share three to five secrets to Land’s End success. When I sat down to talk …

How Strong Is Your Purpose?

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | No Comments

Start Play Will your purpose get you through the tough times? The times when your head questions what you are doing, you lose a client, you stumble, fear approaches, or you feel stuck. These times will appear.   My experience is if my purpose is not very strong when these times show up, I lose focus and often divert off course. My purpose or WHY must be stronger than my head chatter! This week, I am sharing a short story about hitting a bump and fear setting.  Oh, the fear was overpowering and I wanted to throw in the towel on Podcasting!!!  Guess, what? I got back up!  I get to share with you how my purpose keeps me moving forward! By sharing maybe you won’t make the same mistake. I met my new friend that I talk about in the Podcast via Twitter, so it seemed appropriate that this week …

Finding Your Purpose

Posted on by Tracy in business, Challenge, communicate, Connect, entrepreneur, Facebook, focus, goals, Grow, growth, Planning, Social Media, socialmedia, Success, Twitter, Vision Board | No Comments

Where do you begin? So, you have a fantastic idea for a business.  You are over the moon about it and start telling everyone about it, announcing it on Social Media, reserving the URL, creating a Facebook Page…the whole works.  Then a week later, you have a different idea, a different direction you want to go.  So… you start chasing that dream. Maybe this happens a few times. Guess what?  You are not alone.  Many people do this over and over until they find their true purpose… what actually will excite them for the long haul. Throughout the years, I have asked people if they know their life mission.  I have received an array of answers.  When I ask specifically if they are fulfilling their mission by doing what they love career-wise, I get one of two answers:  “yes” or “no”. The “no” people tell me they work so they …

2017 Mantra

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, goals, growth, Inspiration, Love | No Comments

Secret Agent of God For many years past, I used one word as a mantra for the upcoming year.  The word gets written on my vision board, on my whiteboard, in my planner, anywhere that helps me to visualize the word throughout the year. This year, four words have chosen me!  They came to me over coffee with friends in Maui.  Someone tossed out the words “Agent of God”… I tossed in “Secret Agent of God”.  It stuck and has stayed with me since returning home in Anchorage. What these words mean to me: to practice random acts of GIVING without sharing with the world the good deed.  Setting an intention to practice daily acts of kindness with no one knowing. When getting annoyed by the behavior of someone over the last few weeks, a little voice in my head said, “what would a Secret Agent of God do in …

The Gift Of Marriage

I get to celebrate being married to the same man for 11 years! What a gift and honor to be his wife! While Googling gifts for an 11-year wedding anniversary, I stumbled across a blog about lessons learned during 11 years of marriage. Being married to a very practical man (who could care less about ‘gifts’), I had no clue what to get him and thought, well, I am a writer, I can write and give it to him and maybe help a few souls struggling in love. So here goes: 11 Things I Have Learned and Appreciated During 11 Years of Marriage To My Amazing Husband 1.  LISTEN Seems simple, right?  I hear women talk all the time about their guys not paying attention when they speak.  Well, my hubs is the best listener on the planet. I am forever blown away when he brings up a conversation from …

The Ripple Effect

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Inspiration, life, Love | No Comments

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” –Ghandi As I was getting twisted up about the state of the nation and watching all the mean, angry, fear-driven posts on social media from friends and colleagues, I had an epiphany: I can choose to be the change. So last week, I practiced coming from a place of love… creating the Ripple Effect. Even when I felt angry and scared, I practiced love. Granted, I am no saint and this task was not easy. I practiced. It all started with dropping my SUV off at the Ford dealer in town.  I have had the worst experience there the last two times, so I went into the customer service center with a big ol’ chip on my shoulder. But from somewhere deep within my soul, I remembered I was going to practice love.  Oh, how I wanted to go the …

Why Aren’t You Asking Permission?

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Anchorage, business, Coaching, communicate, Facebook, Grow, Social Community, Social Media, Success | No Comments

So… I guess you now know one of my pet peeves?  Yup, getting automatically added to a Facebook Group. I think that people don’t realize all of the amazing business growth opportunities that come with asking people to join a Group first.  Are you in this category?  Well, good news! I am going to share some benefits of asking permission before assuming everyone wants to be in your Facebook Group! Why create a Facebook Group when you already have a Facebook Business Page?   A private group can add value to a program or special product you have. It offers exclusivity to your potential customers or clients that could become buyers of whatever offering you have.  Maybe you create a Group for a certain event and do a Facebook Live from the actual event. No matter what your Group is for, you can set it to be private or public. …

Are You Leaving Them Clueless?

Posted on by Tracy in Alaska, Anchorage, business, Facebook, growth, Social Community, Social Media, Success | No Comments

When I get hired to coach or consult a person or a business, the first thing I do is go to any place where they could give me information about what they do.  Any place that they can promote the business or company, ie; Twitter, LinkedIn, blog/website… any and ALL Social Media profiles. The goal is for someone to be able to quickly identify what you do, what products you sell, and how they may get a hold of you if they need your product or your service.  Quick is KEY. We live in a very LOUD digital world where things move at lightening speed. People don’t like to have to search for something.  You can be intriguing, just don’t be secretive and leave people questioning what you do or who you are. So….don’t lead them on a rabbit trail.  If you do, they may not go down that trail, but …

Stop Ignoring Them?

Social Media can be tricky, however once you get the basics rules down growth is endless! Over and over and over I see this mistake being made on Social Media.  The mistake that could grow a companies following and their life. I share this from personal experience, watching and working with countless businesses.  It is usually the very first mistake I discuss when coaching and consulting.   When people start taking these simple actions, they are often blown away with the power they provide. Curious? Let me explain with an example.  You enter an elevator and someone says hello, and asks you how you are.  You ignore that person.  You then go to the grocery store, and the cashier asks you a question, again, you ignore that person. Hmmmm…..how do you think the person feels?  How would or could a person function in life doing this?  They probably would not …

Vision Board Creation ~ Simplified

Posted on by Tracy in business, entrepreneur, goals, Grow, growth, struggle, Success, vision | No Comments

How many times have you heard the word Vision Board and thought,  that is so ‘woo-woo‘? From time to time I run into small business owners that have felt ‘stuck’ in their business and I have shared the Vision Board process.  Often times they tune me out before I fully explain how it works. I have even had people say that vision boards go against their beliefs in life. I get the impression people think that Vision Boards are cutting up pretty pictures of big fancy homes and cars and pasting them on a board.   After that, you sit back and bingo!!! The magic happens!!  All the visions become reality!  So, that would be like saying, ‘hello Universe let me tell you ALL my WANTS and NEEDS so you can give them to me’. This has NOT been my experience.  Quite the opposite actually.  It is usually a painful, fearful experience at first. …

Combating Head Chatter

Working alone as an entrepreneur or business owner can be challenging.  Often times it’s the ‘head chatter’ that makes for the challenge. How do you combat your ‘head chatter’? Here are several tools that have worked and continue to work for me: 1: Take a Personality Test.  Doing this can give you some insight into how to best complement your personality type so that you can keep your ‘head’ in check. Introverts and Extroverts need different activities to get inspired or motivated and knowing which type of personality you are is a fantastic place to start!  I spent years doing things that didn’t suit my personality type and was often exhausted and had body ailments that could have been avoided. 2. Meditation.  Meditation is all about quieting the mind – not stopping the mind, but slowing it down. Learning to slow down and listen to what our bodies and our hearts are telling us will allow us to give ourselves …

There are so many details and things that have to happen just to open the doors…and then there’s the marketing piece, not to mention the money that seems to fly out of your bank account every time you turn around. It really can be overwhelming and exhausting!   There are three essentials you must remember to do once you have your business license in hand and all the legal documents completed.  These essentials are the brick and mortar of your business and can be done right away, but can also be added on to later down the road. Facebook Advertising: What It Means For You And Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in Advertising, business, Facebook | No Comments

Happy March!! How is your business growing today? Have you tried carousel, video or Instagram ads on Facebook? Each month, we use Facebook and Twitter ads to help clients build their businesses. My team has a client that offers their customers a monthly promotion. In January, an Alaska Tracy team member suggested trying carousel and Instagram ads Results: The company’s overall ad campaign ‘reach’ increased by 37% from the previous month! With only an additional $100 spent on ads, their promotion generated 25% more in sales for January!!! This is very exciting! The beautiful thing about Facebook (and Twitter) is the ad campaign analytics they provide. As always, numbers tell the true story. Power Editor, Facebook’s third party app, tends to be more strategic in selecting what audience an ad will be targeted to and in tweaking it to get the most ‘reach’ for the least dollar amount per click.  Here’s an example of numbers telling the story: just last night I was able to look at …

How I Became Successful

Posted on by Tracy in business, entrepreneur, Facebook, focus, goals, linkedin, Social Community, spiritual experience, Twitter, Uncategorized | No Comments

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” –Albert Einstein What does success mean to you?  To me success is following my heart.  In doing so, I have been able to create a heart centered business.  When I follow my heart, I am able to be useful to others.  When I am of use to others all sorts of opportunities become available (including money).  If I continually think about what is in it for me and how can I get MORE, business and life become a struggle. About eight years ago, I sold a mobile dog grooming business that I had started in Anchorage, AK. My husband and I had hit a little bump in the road of life and I got busy looking for a new career. My background was marketing and sales. My heart and soul fought what I was doing entering a real estate career… and yet… …

Asking!!!! Yes, It Works!

Posted on by Tracy in business, Uncategorized | No Comments

Are you that person that automatically adds people to your email list, or groups you think a person might be interested in without asking their permission first? I get it. You want to build your email list, grow your following …ultimately grow your business and your pocket book. Want to know a secret?  Taking the time to ask permission first is a fantastic way to create relationships!!!  Granted, this way takes more time, as it actually involves reaching out to that person(s), one person at a time. But, I promise, it is SO worth it! Here is how it works.  Facebook and LinkedIn have groups that you can be a part of.  You can also be the facilitator (leader) of that group.  So, here is an example:  I send you a friend request (or a connection request) because I see that you are in a business that I market to.  Let’s say …

The Impact of Business Cards

Out of the Box – Again!

I was asked to be on a committee to help put together a community Art Block Party. I said yes, and did not really know why as I have never thought of myself as an artist. I got to spend time with very creative people from my community that I had not known until volunteering. The event took place last week. At the event, I started thinking (which can often be scary) what the heck am I doing here, I am not an artist. These people are all super talented painting, doing, creating ArT! My husband showed up and we walked about looking at all the booths, I even picked up a paint brush and painted. I told him my thought…and he said yes you are an artist. You are always painting our home, you are writing a book and you are the last to know you are an artist. …

Humanizing Your Business

Posted on by Tracy in business, communicate, entrepreneur | No Comments

What comes to mind when you hear the word Humanize? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary definition, it means “to make (someone or something) seem gentler, kinder, or more appealing to people.”   For years, businesses and organizations have been trying to brand and sell themselves or their products via print, radio, TV, websites, and digital marketing (social media), etc. These are all effective platforms for creating consumer awareness and ultimately growing a business.  But…   …what if you heard that your business could multiply simply by being gentler, kinder and more appealing to people? Being married to a ‘numbers’ guy, I would probably get, “What does that MEAN” and, “What are the numbers to support that statement?”     I have grown multiple businesses, my own included, by simply teaching people how to share their stories, lift others up (or promote others), engage in conversations, and then ask for their support. I have the numbers in …

Success via Twitter

Posted on by Tracy in socialmedia | No Comments

One of the benefits of Twitter in my biz (and life) is this amazing connection to people all over the globe! When I speak about humanizing businesses via Social Media / Marketing, people ask me all the time- “but really, how has Twitter put money in your pocket”? I LOVE that question! One example; I had a potential new client seek out our services, this client was rather large involving 5 businesses. I was ‘stuck’ and a bit fearful on my proposal and moving forward. One of my Twitter connections is a biz consultant on the East Coast. Because of Twitter we have built a relationship. I was able to reach out to him via the old PHONE and discuss ways to prepare the proposal. His help was invaluable, as is his continued support on Twitter that is helping to grow me my business. Twitter has increased my data base, income, …

5 Key Steps to Social Media Success

Posted on by Tracy in business | No Comments

After an hour consultation with a business owner yesterday, I am again reminded that many businesses do not have a clue about the benefits of Social Media and the impact it can have on their overall growth. Here are 5 key steps that you can do today to start growing a social media ‘tribe’ that can grow your business. 1.  Pick one social media platform ie; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and spend 15 minutes five days a week learning how to use it. Do this for 3 weeks. 2.  Follow, like, connect with the gurus using that platform in your industry. Watch  what they are doing and do what they are doing (without copying).  Ask them questions with an open mind that you will learn from them.  Many times people feel too competitive to do this.  Realize there is enough business to go around…if you can’t do this look …

Don’t Forget to Ask

Posted on by Tracy in socialmedia | No Comments

Oh, the mystery of Social Media! How does one use social media to attract clients, customers, and buyers as a means to sustaining one’s livelihood? I was on a coaching call with an entrepreneur yesterday. As I was reviewing her Facebook business page, I noticed that she was attracting thousands of followers and generating hundreds of comments, likes and shares on each of her posts!   I usually don’t see this kind of action on a business page and was thrilled for her! I then asked the question: “How are your sales via Facebook?”  Dead silence followed. She said that she had sold only two products via Facebook in over a year. I asked her if she wanted to know the secret to getting more sales via social media and, of course, she said “Yes!” I told her that she must begin to ASK people to buy her product! If she asked and also provided her customers with directions to her product’s landing page, I knew she would see …

One Simple Way to Build Community

Posted on by Tracy in Social Media Tribe, Uncategorized | No Comments

The theme I am noticing from clients and from within my own life this week seems to be the question: “How do I grow my community?”  Oh, the answers that I have for friends and clients alike are quite simple, yet often not so easy to do and do consistently. In my experience and according to countless others who have gone before me, this one strategy works in growing a happy, joyous and prosperous lifestyle 100% of the time. Ready? Here it is…….be a GIVER, not a taker.  How will you know when it is working? Your focus will shift and others will start to enter your mind more and more.  You will eventually attract the exact community that you are wishing for. When we remove the focus from “what can I get out of this,” to “how can we give back to businesses, people, and the communities we live in,” we are able to attract others into our own worlds.  We are able …

Measurement of Success

Posted on by Tracy in entrepreneur, Uncategorized | No Comments

Author: Nicole Forto Success is often defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, an attainment of one’s goals and dreams. However, I have come to learn that success isn’t just the accomplishment of one’s dreams. A person is not born with success. Nor is it something that is thrust upon you due to wealth, strength, intelligence, or beauty. Rather, success is earned through rigorous effort. I define success not by the accomplishment at the end of the game, finish line, recital, or test but by the long journey I take to get there. Mushing has shown me that to be a success doesn’t mean you have to be a first place champion. It has shown me that believing in yourself and pushing through the good and bad times is where you measure how successful you are. Whether I was coming in first on the racing finish line or …

3 Hot Tips To Grow Your Database

A company’s Database is still the ‘king’ for getting leads and leads that become sales.  A database is a fantastic way to build relationships. Here are 3 hot tips to grow your database today! I.  Create a strategic database campaign that will ‘feed’ your database throughout the year.  You can use Constant Contact  or Mail Chimp to create simple, classy newsletters.  Keep them short and give your readers something that they can use.  Remember less is best! Try not over ‘feeding’…ie;  you may annoy and get ‘unsubscribed’ if you send too many newsletters, emails, etc.  Think of how many emails per day you receive, and how many you actually read!  When I was practicing real estate, I sent a monthly newsletter, new listings, and new sales I had all via an email post card.  It was short and sweet.  I got good comments from my database telling me they loved my emails …

You Can Still See the Sun on a Rough and Rocky Road

It’s the one year anniversary from when I left my full-time, stable job as a marketing representative at First American Title to become a ‘starving artist’ full-time. And boy, has this last year been a trip! First of all, I have definitely not starved, thanks to my wonderfully supportive husband who still has his full-time, stable job. And for that, I am very thankful. In this past year, I have come to the realization that I will have to be a part-time ‘starving artist’ for the next few years to come. ‘Why?’ you ask…I had coffee with the wonderful and wise watercolor artist, Karla Morriera, a few months ago. I asked her for general advice and advice specific to art. But, one of the things she asked me that really stuck with me was, ‘You have to decide whether you want to be a full-time artist or a part-time artist.’ …

How To Jump Start Your Mind

The results are thrilling and inspiring!  As you can see, I have accomplished 500,000 steps averaging 7,477 steps per day. With all this movement, my eating habits changed.  I have cut out sugar, breads and a few other goodies that gave me a nice little roll around my tummy.  I had been squeezing into my size 6’s and rolling my eyes at my size 4’s hanging in my closet.  I have lost 8lbs. and am feeling comfy in my clothes and more importantly in my skin. I have had an addiction to food, exercise, and body image for decades (since I was 13 years old).  I am a recovering bulimic.  I had used exercise and starvation as a way to cope with the …

I decided last year that it was time for me to return to school and do something. I have always had a passion for learning and trying new things. I have taken courses here and there over the years. I read as much as I can and participate in webinars, sessions, anything I can get my hands on that interests me and allows me to learn and grow. What many people don’t know (or don’t realize) about me is that I dropped out of University. I never got a bachelor’s degree or anything like that. I started but decided that the path that I …

How I, (or you) choose to look at the world I, (or you) live in! My perception changes daily, sometimes it changes by the minute or second! My perception is often tainted when I do not have all the facts, and so I perceive something (or someone) to be or not to be. When I perceive all things to be possible and I carry an open, willing, and honest mind, I am able to see the world as if all things are possible. See, I have this brain that tells often lies to me. The UP System has me movin’, Movin’, movin’!  I tend to be on the competitive side, so this is perfect for me as I can compete with myself. The system fits around your lifestyle. The bottom line is the more you move, the more calories you burn, and the better your mental state is. In just 4 days of wearing this little gadget, I am moving my body more, sleeping more, eating better, and laughing more. See I dance around the house now to increase my steps. Sometimes the dogs dance with me, sometimes the hubster dances with me. Mostly we laugh at me dancing around trying to get more steps in before bedtime. You can share accomplishments with friends and challenge each other if you choose. I have enough trouble challenging myself as I set my goals a bit high each day. Brilliant Out of the Box Marketing

3 Simple Effective Ways to Grow your Biz! Several months ago, a company approached me (Alaska Tracy) via Twitter. They emailed me asking me to be a brand ambassador for one of their clients.  It really was a simple program, but would still learn a lot, and get very cool techy gadgets. I did not believe there was no catch to this. After all, I have had decades of experience in the sales industry, and know all the sales lines in the book. After two months of “courting” me, I agreed to talk to them — them being  Online Mom Media.  Their branding policy is BRILLIANT, simple, effective and out of the box! I was asked to attend the Verizon Influencer’s Summit in San Francisco and was able to meet others in the Ambassador program, learn a ton about the Verizon company, and get cool gadgets. After this experience, I wondered why more …

Big Ole’ Entrepreneurial Speed Bump!

Posted on by Tracy in business, Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I have found that having a mentor in life, or a coach in business, helps me to grow.  I have had many of these throughout my 11 plus years in business.  I recently connected with a mentor that has helped me throughout many of my businesses, including the first one where I created a mobile dog grooming business in Anchorage, Alaska. (It is still running around on its 3rd owner)! Through all of the ups and downs and in-betweens, she has been a role model and tremendous help when it comes to brainstorming. The business world always amazes me, and always has since 2001 when I first started the entrepreneurial path. Visualize it. Create the path. Take the actions to achieve the goal! Oh… and work, work, work, and give, give, give to others; and then when you feel like you have nothing more to offer, GIVE MORE! Last but …

The Illusional Truth of Entrepreneurship

There is so much that goes into starting and running a successful business.  I get emails all the time from folks asking for advice on how to start their own biz. I believe anyone can be a biz owner; however, one must realize ALL that is involved. I recently heard from someone who said she wanted to do what I do and take a step back, allowing her to put in less work hours per day. I reread the email to my husband and he said, “You must be making it look too easy.” See, the reality is hours and hours and then more hours go into the life of a biz owner. (One that is enriched and paying their bills, that is.) I love to hike, so, some days, I try to arrange my schedule and work in the evenings. Because my evenings are not filled with any hobbies …

Unplugged in Maui

A Pause When was the last time you unplugged from all social media? I recently took a trip to a women’s conference and told my social media community I was unplugged for the weekend. I tried really hard to stay off Facebook and Twitter. After the conference, I met my husband for a week in Maui. We are blessed to travel there often, so the need to run around seeing and doing is not quite as high; however, I had traveled over to the conference with a virus, and it made a come back for our romantic (not) week in Maui. I was a sniffling, coughing mess. I had started a private, 30-day challenge meditation group on Facebook, two weeks prior to the trip. So, I was in a Zen-like space. Even though I was sick each day, I was able to mediate on the beach in the sunshine and take a pause. I posted a …

What’s a true joy in my life? I get to help others that are looking to start a business. In the past month, I have been approached by folks right out of college with no clue how to go about creating a successful business. For a second, it confused me. I have a two-year degree, and I suppose I just assumed a four-year degree would provide insight on how to create and run a business. So, why not spread my knowledge, you wonder? Well, it has sparked my interest to pursue teaching at universities. Teaching the “how-to’s” and the “ins-and-outs” of being an entrepreneur. These people have reminded me of what I knew back when I started my first business in 2001. I have been reminded of the challenges, heart aches and all the successes. This will be the first entrepreneurial blog in a series, and now it’s time for me to ask you some questions. Below are four questions you must …

3 Tips to Keep You Moving Forward in 2014

As the second week of 2014 comes and goes, how are your plans for the year coming along?  Are you happy with the space you are in? Maybe already overwhelmed and feeling as if you set too high of goals?  Be gentle with yourself.  As I type this, I am reminding myself to reflect on exactly where I was one year ago: the feelings I had, the fears, goals and the desires for 2013.  This helps to center me in the present and to be filled with gratitude for all the forward movement in the last 12 months. There are three things to consider when moving forward, while being gentle with your soul, and having some fun along the way. 1. Delegate. – what gets you “stuck”? For example: bookkeeping, blogging, newsletter, time sheets, hiring, etc. What do you DREAD doing on a weekly basis? Can you possibly hire it …

The POWERFUL Gift of SAYING NO

Are you building a business and have not a clue how to meet people and get leads? Maybe you say yes to groups that meet once a week or once a month. Maybe this works for you and you love the socialization. Maybe you, like me, have a hard time connecting, you feel drained after these events, you do not feel that you want to refer some of these folks. However, you feel obligated. You ALWAYS feel obligated… so you keep saying YES. You say yes and your stomach churns. Voices run around in your head saying, “Why did I commit to this?” “Why do I go to this every week and feel this way?” “How else would I make connections?” “I must force myself to do these events and continue to hope for referrals.” I have news for you! It is ok to pause before saying yes. My rule …

Everyone is confident in their first amendment right: freedom of speech, religion and press, but just because you’re allowed to say and publish something, doesn’t mean it’s always the best idea to do so. With the Internet excessively progressing over time, more opportunities for self-portrayal become available for anyone and everyone to view. And it’s these new social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and blogging sites, that have the power to exploit people in ways that can haunt them forever. There are those pictures of the beer pong table from college, or that crazy spring break trip with a group of friends that was too much fun to not share with everyone on your Facebook friends’ list, but what about a potential future boss scrolling through those? Some of us are victims of excessive tagging. If you’re a Facebook fiend, you know what I mean… you go to …

Are You Living Your Purpose?

Posted on by Tracy in authentic, business, focus, growth, life, Love, peaceful, spiritual experience, Success | No Comments

By Jenna Gessay Yes, you have a reason for being, and believe it or not, you already ARE it. You may have not yet chosen, however, to express it in a way that truly supports your highest good. That’s okay. That’s what human life just may be about – finding that alignment, and dancing in harmony with it. I am a person who believes we are all connected and one with the divine, and that there is a special imprint, as unique as a fingerprint, woven through our being. That blueprint on our souls, the divinely inspired “why” we are here, can be called our purpose. In my opinion, our purpose isn’t to “do” anything specific. Our purpose is literally to BE THE LIGHT THAT WE ARE. Our mission is to embody our divine light, and to bring it to the world through our own expression and unique offering. Often this …

How do you define ‘Authentic’ in your life?  Do you share on Social Media Platforms authentically? I find that I want to attract and work with like minded people.  I keep certain things off Social Media.  My opinions on Politics, Religion, and finances as well as if I am having a down right crappy day.  The reason I do this, is once I share my ‘opinion’ to the world, it separates me.  I share my personal opinions with my husband and a spiritual advisor and a few of my closest friends.  When having a bad day, I have learned to do the opposite (that does not mean I am always successful).  By doing this, I find I am not growing my feelings. So, how do you share with the world? Is is working for you in creating a life that you enjoy living each and every day? Alaska Tracy ~ …

I have a huge ego, and it lies to me all the time.  It tells me lies like:  “You can’t, FILL IN THE BLANK.”  “You are not, FILL IN THE BLANK.”  It goes on and on with its lies. The first of many Spiritual Experiences ~ Bali

I had made a drastic change in my life a year prior to this trip.  I had been given the ‘keys’ to a magical FREEDOM that I had been searching for my whole life.  I had been given the gift of sobriety. I had always felt uncomfortable in my own skin.  From birth, I had felt this way.  Nothing, most painfully including myself, ever seemed to be ‘good enough.’  I tried many ways to feel different about who I was and how I felt.  As I got older (13 years) I realized that alcohol could make me feel just a little different. It was enough that I latched onto it for years and years. At 19 years old, I landed the perfect job for my irritable soul, an airline career that would allow me the opportunity to move around and travel all over the world.  Still feeling uncomfortable and 30+ …

I had been on this trail hundreds of times, but somehow, this time, I got disoriented. I started cutting through smaller trails that sprouted off the larger, better groomed trail. Suddenly I had no clue where I was, and darn it… I heard a branch snap

T was diagnosed with throat cancer last August after noticing a lump on his throat along with some other symptoms. The outlook for his illness was pretty grim, although the doctors did give him some hope. He underwent months of hellish radiation, which did things to his body that I will not even go into. As he was finishing his last radiation treatment, his heart started giving him trouble. The doctors suggested that if he could make it a year, they could possibly undergo heart surgery to repair the heart; but in the end, his heart would still most likely be the thing that would kill him. His heart is doing that now, as he has a 6 cm. aneurysm in his aorta and there is nothing more to be done.

The goals are great; however, experiencing the journey is where it’s at. Focusing on “staying the course” is the tough part and I have found it takes lots of practice.

How did they make their millions so effortlessly (or so it seems)?  Can they really be that amazing all the time?  How do they remain so calm and in control?  The truth is, we are all human beings.  We ALL have struggles and challenges.  It is how we want the world to perceive these struggles and challenges.  Recently, I had a breakdown.  I was dealing with a difficult real estate …

Truth be told, I never loved myself, so how on earth could I really love my family? I do not know when it happened that I started being uncomfortable in my body.  Maybe 13…maybe at birth.  I always wanted to be ‘thinner’.  I would thrived on starving.  For some reason, I felt more energy, more ‘in control’ of my life when I did this.  It would come and go in waves.  Sometimes I would gain weight and then I would get so uncomfy, I would STARVE and get really ‘thin’.  I thrived on the compliments from others.  All the compliments however could not stop the inner voice from saying terrible things about myself.  I was never good enough. I was the swim team captain in high school. …

Running up the Hills of LIFE

Posted on by Tracy in Coaching, Motivational tools from Alaska Tracy's tool kit~, Uncategorized | No Comments

Running = Inspiration     I have been a runner (jogger) for over 20 something years.  I have taken many breaks from it and have had a love/hate relationship with it.  I always miss it when I am away from it. Sometimes I think-I am done with running, however, I always go back to it. When I started running years ago, it was to loose weight.  I had a SICK food illness.  I used running as a form of torchure to my body and myself.  I would eat and eat and eat sugary stuff and go run 10+ miles and get sick.  I did loose weight.  I was pretty sick too. I ran my 1st marathon (26.1 miles) when I was 30 for a little gal that had Leukemia.  I joined the Leukemia Team in Training.  It was an amazing incredible event filled with unlimited support.  I had moved from …

Giving Universe

Formula for Success Do you believe the Universe can GIVE YOU exactly what you want?   Here are the KEYS for this SUCCESS: Grab a pen and paper.  Not your computer an actual PEN & PAPER! Write down your DESIRES.  ALL of them.  Even if they seem WAY OUT THERE!  Go ahead and write them down anyways.  ANYTHING you desire put it on paper. Now, hire a mentor, coach, or a business advisor (maybe you have someone you don’t have to pay).  It is better if you are paying them as you will be more accountable to them….and more importantly to yourself.  (I know …you do not have the money, I DID NOT either and I did it anyways)! Tell that person your DESIRES! Let them help you to ‘Road Map’ your directions to your DESIRES! Let GO!  Have FUN somewhere in each day.  Something that feeds your spirit.  Do it daily. …

Profile of a ‘Perfect’ Coaching Client

Posted on by Tracy in Coaching | No Comments

Alaska Tracy ~  Enriching lives via Social Media & Motivational Coaching My business was created because I genuinely love to help people find their true desires in life and guide them to these desires. Since starting a business 11 years ago, I always have had a ‘Coach’ or a business advisor helping me with business goals and decisions.  A person outside the business that can give me constructive criticism and I can be accountable to.  This, I believe has been the key to all the businesses I have owned successes. My experience is not all people that I have hired have ‘worked’ out for me.  Meaning, I am not able to understand all coaching styles.  Some people just do not ‘fit.’  This is not a reflection on them or me, it is just we all have a unique learning ability and not everyone ‘fits’ each others styles. I have hired Coaches and …

Magical DOGS – LAST PART !

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | No Comments

GOD = DOG …And then there was Eddie Orca J did send him!  She had been gone two weeks and I was on the SEARCH for our next 4-legged house-mate!  Hubby said puppies did not fit our busy life style.  We both believe in Rescuing dogs and mixed breeds and I searched all the shelters in Anchorage hourly! I thought I had convinced Bobby that Shepherd/St Bernard mix puppies would be perfect for us!  There were 8 available at the local shelter.  He said, ‘no puppies, however I will meet you there to look.’  I had an odd feeling in my stomach about a puppy.  Also, a need to ‘go look.’   We met at 5 p.m.  We walked into a stinky, loud shelter in town (they are no longer around).  The third kennel down on the left….there he was, Eddie.  We both stopped.  He had Orca J’s head…and well…a corgi …

Magical DOGS Part II

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | No Comments

GOD = DOG Orca Jean We loved her…..  Orca Jean.    She got to experience being groomed on a regular basis and being known for being one of the cleanest dogs on the block.  See, I had always wanted to own an animal business.  I created Alaska’s only Mobile Dog Grooming service, Rub-a-Dub Dog Inc.  Orca Jean came to live with us right before I sold the business.  I loved hanging with Dogs all day long! Orca Jean had a connection to Moose.  It was amazing.  The only thing I could figure was that I have never been afraid of these massive beings. I have a respect for them, but not a fear.  We would be out walking or running and practically run into a Moose.  We never had a bad encounter.  At times we would just stop and watch the Moose close by us. Orca J would sit calmly and watch. …

Magical DOGS Part I

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | No Comments

GOD = DOG While running thru the woods with my current best dog friend, Eddie ~ ‘the Public Figure’, I was trying to think of a title for this Blog post.  There are NO words humanly possible to describe the love of a dog! Magical just came to my mind.  The relationship to the current furry being, the three that have gone before him, and the many growing up have been somewhat of a ‘Spiritual Experience’ in my life. Reno (a German Shepherd) & Cheyenne (a Golden Retriever) were 10 and 14 when they passed on to their next life. They came into my life in my 20s.  Reno was a reflection of the scared person I was.  I carried her until she was 40lbs.  (I know…..) I created a scared German Shepherd who was very protective of me.  She also did not like Cheyenne.  Cheyenne came into Reno’s life at 6 …

Funny thing, FAMILY

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Related Sometimes I wonder if I would ‘hang out’ with family members if we weren’t related.  Kind of an odd thought and yet….I am not sure I would.  Course, I tend to be a loner, so…. Visits from Family Each time I visit a family member or family comes to visit me, I get to know myself a little bit better.  The older I get …the less I know about life and the more comfy I get in my own skin. At 45, I am finally able to let my guard down.  Not completely, however more than last year or even 6 months ago. I have no BIG secrets.  No BIG dramas in my life.  I lead a pretty uncomplicated, simple life and am hopeful I am able to be an example of some sort of grace.   I have always been one to keep those closest to me at …

~SUCCESS ~

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | No Comments

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. — inaccurately attributed to  Ralph Waldo Emerson   Success…What does it mean to you?  Who inspires you?  Do you watch someone and think, how do they do what they do?  Do you feel amazingly upbeat when around a certain person?   Several years ago, I was taking a class and was given an assignment to go to three people that I thought were successful and ask them if I could do a 15-20 …

Your Home’s Soul

What feelings do you have when walking through your front door?   My perception growing up was to always look good on the outside-regardless of what is happening on the inside. Like I said, this is only my perception.  Sometimes I feel my perception was not always the truth.   However….it is my feelings and I have learned to honor them and not always believe them.

Stupid NO MORE!

Posted on by Tracy in Uncategorized | 3 Comments

Years ago, I knew I wanted to be a business owner, however I had always thought of myself as ‘stupid.’  When it came to academics, I struggled! I used creativity and a bubbly personality (which was often exhausting) to help me through challenging times like High School, College and Trade Schools.  When it came to learning out of a book or a class room I had all I could do to get by with a C.  Often times Ds and Fs were it for me.  I cheated and often leaned into friends and teachers that I thought could help me.   I felt ‘less than’ and hopeless.  I was determined to go into business for myself.  I was unsure how or where to start the process.  A good friend suggested that I seek help from a Business Development Career Counselor, David Goodenough.   With a name like Goodenough,  I knew he was going …
